Administration
Principal Kerry Coarse
Kerry Coarse started her career at Rutland City Public School in 1996. She began as a special educator at
RIS before transitioning to NW as a second-grade teacher, from there she went back to special
education at RHS before moving into administration in 2014 as Coordinator Of Support Services. In 2018
she was appointed as Assistant Principal at RIS prior to becoming Principal at RIS in 2020. Kerry earned
her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Castleton State
College. She went on to complete two Master’s degrees, one in Special Education and one in
Educational Leadership also from Castleton State College/Castleton University. She continues to learn
and grow by participating in additional relevant coursework and conferences. Kerry resides in Rutland
Town with her husband and two sons.
Assistant Principal Megean Martin
Megean Martin began with Rutland City Public Schools in 2014, working as a school counselor at Allen St
Campus, and Northwest Primary School. In 2020, Megean joined the administrative team at Rutland
Intermediate School as an Assistant Principal overseeing special education and section 504. Megean
earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and Principal Endorsements from Castleton University, and
her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Albany, in New York.
When not at school, Megean enjoys spending time exploring the Vermont wilderness with her family,
and never ending house projects.
Assistant Principal Lindsey Riter
Lindsey Riter returns to the Rutland City Public Schools this year as Assistant Principal at Rutland
Intermediate School. She began her career at RIS where she served as a special educator, third grade
classroom teacher, and literacy interventionist. After 7 years with RCPS, Lindsey moved on to pursue an
opportunity as a literacy coach which led to serving as a literacy coordinator for K-12 schools. She holds
a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from William Smith College, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from
Hobart and William Smith Colleges, a Doctorate of Education from Northeastern University, as well as
principal and reading specialist endorsements. Lindsey lives in Rutland with her husband and two
children.
